Nutrition Screening and Care Planning -Training for Care Home Staff
Leicestershire Nutrition and Dietetic Service delivers in-house training sessions for care home staff. Sessions available are:
Nutritional Screening and Care Planning - training for care home staff.
This training is aimed at senior care / nursing staff who are undertaking nutritional screening and care planning, and will help you to meet the Care Quality Commission standards on meeting nutritional needs of your residents (2.5 hour session).
The session incorporates the following topics:
- Nutritional screening
- Calculating weights, heights, BMIs and interpreting weight loss
- Food fortification
- Nutritional care plans and monitoring
Nutritional Care of People with Dementia - aimed at all staff who work with residents with dementia.
The session includes practical activities, discussions and incorporates the following topics (2 hour session).
- Identifying common nutritional problems in dementia
- Identifying residents at risk of undernutrition
- Identifying strategies to assist in the care of residents at risk of not meeting their nutritional needs

Charges for the above sessions:
Sessions are held at your own residential / care home for up to 12 staff at a cost of £53 per hour.
